Hydatid Cyst of brain - Excision in toto - by Dr. Miraj Us Siraj, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Neurosurgery, Foundation University Medical College, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
According to Dr. Miraj Us Siraj:
This girl is 11 years old and belongs to North West area of Pakistan. This area is very remote with mountains and very basic life facilities are available but they have all sorts of livestock and domestic animals living with them including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and cows and buffalos etc.
She presented with 2 years history of gradually worsening headaches and occasional vomiting. Prior to admission to hospital she had few episodes of complex partial seizures. She underwent craniotomy and removal of cyst which we thought was arachnoid cyst. Attached please find her photograph taken on the day when she was discharged home.

interesting case
a interesting case but i nedd to know the surgical technique for dissection of cyst.
Thank´s a lot.
Never seen anything like this.
Very interesting case! One of those cases that I only can read about in books and do not see in my own practice. I find it of special interest to see the surgical technique, with water disection, by wich the large cyst is disected free from the brain and lifted of its bed without rupturing. Thanks for sharing this case with us!
